Getting Personal

A Brief Introduction

Great to meet you!

My name is Gabriel, but people call me Gabe/Gabz/Gabby, so I don’t really mind whatever you call me.

I’m a Physician Associate (UK) or Physician Assistant (US). I am currently preparing for the Registration Exams. I have a huge interest in Paediatrics and Family Medicine. I am fortunate enough to already have a job offer where I can practice Family Medicine with Specialisation to Paediatrics.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

I live by the quote:

“With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don’t seem like such a bad thing to me, to want to put a little bit of it back together.”
– Desmond Doss

Who has influenced you the most?

Desmond Doss
He was a US Army corporal who served combat medic in World War II. He served with his platoon in 1944 on Guam and the Philippines.

He refused to kill an enemy soldier or carry a weapon into combat. During the Battle of Okinawa, he saved 50-100 wounded infantrymen atop the area known as ‘Hacksaw Ridge’.

For this, he received the Medal of Honour.
